I had the honor of addressing the graduating class of Phillipsburg (NJ) High School yesterday.  I’m even more flattered by the note written by the school’s principal.

I have been blessed to lead Phillipsburg High School, as the principal, for the past three years.  As the end of each school year
comes to a close, I have a desire to deliver a message to graduating seniors that they can take with them as they depart for college, the military or the workplace.

My athletic director, Tom Fisher, attended the New Jersey Athletic Director’s annual conference in Atlantic City in March, 2012.  He had the privilege of hearing Lee Rubin speak at the conference.  When Tom returned, he said, “If you can get Lee to PHS, do it.”

Knowing that I wanted to do something special for the graduating seniors, I contacted Lee and asked if he would come speak with them prior to graduation practice.  In addition, I purchased Lee’s book for each member of the class (400 students) as a gift.

Wow!  Lee spoke to the PHS Class of 2012 this morning and delivered a powerful message.  You could hear a pin drop in the  auditorium. Each student took in every word and heard a message that can change their life forever!  Each and every senior in high school should hear Lee’s words.  He has the power to influence in ways I have never seen.

Recently, I had the honor of moderating an amazing panel of experts during an NFL pre-draft event for high school student-athletes.  The panel was filled with former college and pro athletes that have made a successful transition into roles within the business side of sports.  Here’s a testimonial from one of the panelists, Tanya Marchiol – former volleyball player and founder of TEAM Investments, Inc.

As President of the New Jersey Athletic Directors, it was a pleasure to welcome Lee Rubin as a keynote speaker at our 52nd Annual Workshop of the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey. Lee’s topic was “Helping Student-Athletes Win on and Off the Field.” Lee brings a wealth of athletic experience to the table and expresses himself in a logical sequential manner. His topic was relevant to the athletic administrators in the room.  Conference evaluations were positive across the board and indicated that Lee was well received. In addition to the topic already mentioned, Lee speaks on Leadership, Team-Building, Overcoming Adversity, and Personal Growth. I recently received a great testimonial from Sam Duddy, Head Football Coach, Monsignor Donovan High School, and President of the Shore Conference Football Coaches Association.  The feedback is from a short speech I shared at the All-Shore Academic Breakfast  – an event honoring outstanding scholar-athletes.

Lee Rubin was our guest speaker recently at our annual All Shore Academic Breakfast for high school senior football players that have maintained high levels of achievement in the classroom and on the playing field. 

Mr. Rubin, with his rich background, spoke to the eyes of our athletes with a powerful message that kept them glued to every word.

Lee has a style that engages the room and before he even begins to speak, his resume, and aura speaks volumes of confidence and wisdom. He brings anticipation to the microphone that draws the unbroken attention of what would otherwise be distracted and disinterested teenagers in an event like this of nearly 400 attendees.

At the conclusion of his energetic talk, one that encompassed a great opening story, to inspiring quotes from other great orators like “Good is the Enemy of Great”, and then asking for the audience to become involved by raising hands and actually answering his questions, the huge audience never broke eye contact, and were constantly nodding their heads in a very strong connection with him.

Lee loves people and wants them to succeed. He is passionate, professional, knowledgeable and inspiring. His heart is “true”, and that is what is most powerful about him.
